Rob Nelson confirmed to Flow Games that exercise and eating will affect character bodies in Grand Theft Auto VI. According to his comments, going to the gym changes a character’s body, while eating a lot can make the character get fat.

The statements point to physical changes being tied to two everyday activities: working out and food. However, the interview excerpts do not specify how extensive these changes are, how quickly they occur, or whether they affect other gameplay systems. No additional mechanics should be assumed from the confirmation.

A broader world of systems

The body changes are one detail from a wider set of features Nelson discussed in relation to GTA VI. He also said the game combines a large map with a high density of interiors that players can enter. Other confirmed details include diving equipment, shipwrecks to explore and underwater treasures to find.

Nelson further described a shared relationship attribute for Jason and Lucia. During a pursuit, the two characters can split up, reducing the wanted level by one star. He also said that a supercar spotted on a Vice Beach street can be taken at any point in the game.

For now, the confirmed information is limited to the effects of exercise and eating on a character’s body. The available comments do not establish whether these changes are permanent, how they are managed, or what other consequences they may have.
